India's national flag is a horizontal tricolor of deep saffron(kesari ) at the top, white in middle and dark green at the bottom.In the corner of the white band is a navy blue wheel(chakra). Its design is that of the wheel which appears on the abacus of the Sarnath Lion Capital of Ashoka.

 

its diameter approximates to the width of the white band and it has 24 spokes.

the ratio of the width and the length of the flag is 2:3.

The constituent Assembly of India adopted the design of the national flag on July 22,1947.

 

the colour saffron represents the sacrifice-the colour of the flame.

the colour green represents Nobility.

the colour green represents prosperity.

the wheel represents Dharma.
